Centre stage for Stalham Juniors

The burgeoning Stalham Brass Junior Section has been showcasing their talents to the great and good in Norfolk.

Stalham

Taking centre stage at this year’s North Norfolk Civic Reception were the talented young players of Stalham Brass Band’s Junior Section.

Showcase

The event showcased the area’s talented young people and around 200 civic dignitaries, politicians, and guests from all over Norfolk gathered at the impressive Atrium Arts Centre to celebrate the children’s diverse skills.

Groups played music and performed song and dance routines from musical shows and theatre.

Pride of place

Taking pride of place was Stalham, formed from over 100 children trained in the past year by MD Dr. Tim Thirst, through a pilot scheme in North Norfolk schools backed by Arts Council England and Brass Bands England.

The evening started with junior band members giving a concert before being joined later in the proceedings by their tutors.

This was the first time the children had performed to an audience and it was certainly a big prestigious event to start withMD. Dr Tim Thirst

No nerves

Tim told 4BR: "This was the first time the children had performed to an audience and it was certainly a big prestigious event to start with. However, once they were performing the nerves disappeared.

They were still on a high, days afterwards."
