Euphonium soloist Charley Brighton will give his 50th Celebration Recital on May 4th with Malcolm Stowell at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Slough in Berkshire.
New works
Three new works by young composers (all hoping to be present) will be premiered and will include ‘Spring Rhapsody’ by Esther Hopkins, ‘La Danse des Papillons’ by Robert Steadman and the upbeat ‘Brighton Rock’ by Jamie McVicar.
Since May 2001, the previous 49 recitals have heralded 261 pieces of music by 174 different composers from 20 different countries, 82 of which have been premieres!
Vintage
A feature of the recitals has been the use of vintage and classic model euphoniums that Charley collects and restores. 25 different models have been used dating from 1891 to the present day.
