Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield) Band has welcomed two new players to the band.

New players

Karen Jefferson joins on solo horn from Stamford Brass and replaces Rob Smith who is leaving to join the Marines after a nine year stay with the band.

Meanwhile, Jim Hartley joins on second trombone from Deepcar. Jim replaces Ernest Bartle who left the band after a year’s stay to enjoy his retirement more.

First contest

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Their first contest will be the Holme Valley contest on Sunday 9th June, and we would like to welcome both of them to the band and look forward to preparing for our third consecutive trip to the National Finals in Cheltenham in September."
