The Staffordshire Band has announced the appointment of David Purkiss as its new Associate Musical Director.
Experience
The music and teaching graduate was a member of the Travelsphere Holidays (GUS) Band, before moving to Pennine Brass and Foden’s. He has also played for Black Dyke, Grimethorpe and Brighouse & Rastrick, and was principal cornet of both Fuoco Brass and Salvo Brass, as well playing with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
David became Resident Conductor of Foresters Brass in 2010, moving in 2011 to become the Musical Director of Thoresby Colliery Band. His is currently Director of Music at Friary School in Lichfield.
