Staffs welcome back tuba star

Tuba star Tony Whittingham made a spectacular return to his old band at Bedworth.

Fresh from their success in winning the Midlands First Section Regional title in Bedworth, the Staffordshire Band has announced the return from of tuba star, Tony Whittingham.

Band Chairman Shaun Elliott told 4BR: "This is fantastic news, especially on the back of our recent victory at Bedworth.

Tony played for us around a decade ago and was a very fine player then, but after spells with the likes of Brighouse & Rastrick, Hepworth, Desford and Thoresby Colliery he returns even better."

Tony made a highly successful impact on his return in helping the band claim the First Section Area title and their place at Cheltenham.

Future

Shaun added: "I’m so pleased that he has seen what we are doing here at Staffs and wants to be a part of that future!"

Tony joins a trio of players who have recently joined the band, with Hugo Boucheny and Joel Cambell coming in on cornet and Sarah Francis joining on trombone.
