Creetown takes distinctive step forward

The young players of Creetown Silver Band are making the right moves towards a return to the contesting fold after success in Galloway.

Members of Creetown Silver Band have enjoyed great success at the recent Galloway Music Festival.

Distinction

Kyle Fitzsimmons (cornet) and Rebekah Hughes (horn) took the top two places in the Junior Brass Solo section for grades 4 to 5, whilst the Creetown Junior Band won a trophy in the Secondary School large ensemble category gaining a ‘distinction’ grade for their fine playing.

Jack Norgate took top spot against Creetown conductor Stuart McNab, thanks to his fine rendition of ‘Bass in the Ballroom’ in the adult solo section, whilst the band also did well with their other entrants in the full band and quintet categories.

This was a huge step in the planned build-up to becoming a contesting band again next yearMD, Stuart McNab

Huge step

Creetown conductor Stuart McNab told 4BR: "We are all delighted; especially as all the band’s players impressed the adjudicator with their dynamics, articulation and musicianship.

This was a huge step in the planned build-up to becoming a contesting band again next year."
