The Marple Band is still on something of a high after making a remarkable return to contesting at the North West Regional Championships in Blackpool.
New principal
After winning the Third Section title and claiming their place at the National Finals in Cheltenham, they have now confirmed the appointment of their new principal cornet player Andy Liles, who played on the end chair in their success at the Winter Gardens.
A highly respected former member of Whaley Bridge he returned to banding after taking a three year break due to work commitments.
Returns
He joins Marple from Arnfield Brass, where during the last few years he has played horn, baritone and euphonium, before returning to cornet two years ago.
