Forest set for Five-a-Side

The Forest of Dean Area Wind Band is looking for brass bands with a bit of footballing skill.

The Forest of Dean Area Wind Band will be holding a ‘Music & Mayhem’ day on Saturday 22nd June and are inviting youth music groups of all varieties including brass bands to take part.

Musical showcase

Kristyann Symonds, Director of Forest of Dean Area Wind Band, told 4BR: "The idea is that we have a musical showcase from about 11.00am through to about 2.00pm with each group performing for about 15 — 20 minutes.

It will be very informal and just an opportunity for all different types of groups to play in public pieces they have been working on."

He added: "The mayhem bit comes later — after the showcase, hopefully not during it in the form of a five-a-side football tournament!"

Football

Bands/groups are being invited to put together a team to take part in a round robin type of tournament. Teams can be mixed or single sex and organisers expect it to be a popular addition to the day. There will also be a tuck shop and teas and coffees available to keep the supporters happy whilst cheering their side on.

Free

Participation is free, and as well as groups the organisers will welcome soloists.
