The Scottish Brass Band Association has launched its SBBA Apprentice Adjudicator Scheme
Four contests
SBBA told 4BR that they are welcoming applications from prospective adjudicators for a scheme which will focus around the four major SBBA events throughout the contesting year: the Scottish Championships in March, the West Lothian Festival of Brass in June, the joint Scottish Open and the Scottish Youth Championships in November.
Opportunities
A spokesperson told 4BR: "During these competitions there will be opportunities for the selected SBBA Apprentice Adjudicators to shadow the appointed contest adjudicators, make their own assessments and write remarks about all the band performances.
This will be additionally supported by pre and post contest discussions with the adjudicators to help review the apprentices’ technique and approach."
The Scheme is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to take up adjudicationSBBA
Hands on experience
They added: "The Scheme is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to take up adjudication. It will enable apprentices to gain hands-on experience and insight of the processes and practicalities involved in adjudication, and benefit from valuable consultation with the adjudicators working at the events."
