Skipton Brass is inviting their local Craven community to join them at an open rehearsal on Friday 15th March, as they run through final preparations for their long awaited return to the North of England Regional Championships at Darlington.
Welcome return
The last time Skipton entered 13 years ago they were a Championship Section contender, but on this occasion they make a welcome return in the Fourth Section.
Despite finding it difficult to recruit all the players needed to field a full strength band, Skipton has decided to enter under the leadership of MD Adrian Lowes, as they believe it marks a significant turning point for the band.
Working back
Two years ago they had only eight playing members, but now they are just one away from a full compliment and ready to work their way back to the top.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Regardless of the result at Darlington, we hope this move inspires other non-contesting bands to enter regional competitions in the future and push and themselves to the highest standards they can with the resources they have available."
The band will joined on the evening by York Railway Institute Band (YRIB) under MD Gordon Eddison, with the Second Section contender also showcasing their set work for the contest on the weekend.
