Midlands test piece festival at new venue

If you want to get a great sneak preview of all five area test pieces to be played at Bedworth then make sure you go to the right venue.

Albert Hall

The forthcoming Midland Area Test Piece Festival has a new venue.

New venue

This year’s event, coordinated by Newstead Brass, will take place in the Lovelace Theatre of Hucknall’s John Godber Centre on Saturday, March 2nd at 7.30 pm featuring five different bands performing the music set for forthcoming Area Championships.

Hosts Newstead will be joined by Hathern, Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield), Long Eaton and Pleasley Colliery, and each band will play their set work as well a march or hymn tune before receiving feedback on their performance from experienced adjudicators Duncan Beckley and John Roberts.

Centre of town

The John Godber Centre is on Ogle Street, Hucknall, Nottingham, NG15 7FQ and is adjacent to the Market Place in the centre of the town, midway between junctions 26 and 27 of the M1.

Admission costs just £2 at the door. Everyone is welcome to come along and there will also be a bar and refreshments available.

Enhance preparations

A band spokesman added: "The change of venue gives bands the chance to play in a popular community theatre which will hopefully enhance preparations for Bedworth the following weekend!"
