The composition of the 2013 National Band of New Zealand that will undertake a domestic tour and trip to China later this year has been announced.

Experience

Auditions led by Musical Director Dr Robert Childs has led to an experienced line up of players, featuring principal cornet John Lewis of Dalewool Auckland Brass and solo euphonium Riki McDonnell amongst others.

Speaking recently to 4BR Dr. Robert Childs expressed satisfaction with the standard of the band and that he was looking forward to leading them on a historic tour to China.

Delighted

Meanwhile, David Dobson, General Manager of BBANZ was delighted that Dr Childs had taken the next step in his relationship with the Association and with the National Band itself.

And it appears the players themselves are looking forward to the experience too, as one added: "I’m naturally delighted and pleasantly surprised to see my name on the list ... I would love to do this tour and have always enjoyed my national band experiences."
