After two and a half years highly successful years at the helm, the inspirational Alec Grimsey has decided to step down from his conductor role with the Test Valley Youth Band.
Developed
Since 2010 the band has developed remarkably under his baton, with trips and performances in such venues and locations as Romsey Abbey, York Minster and Mallorca, as well as working with the likes of euphonium star Steven Mead and having music specially written for them.
Enjoyed
Alec told 4BR: "I have enjoyed myself immensely and the young people involved with Test Valley Brass are absolutely brilliant. We have a wonderful happy, hard working group which has lots of fun. You really couldn’t wish for better young people."
He added: "I know I am handing the band over to a very capable pair of hands. The future is very bright with the experience and fresh thinking that they will now benefit from."
I’m very excited to be taking over the band. It’s in excellent shape and at a very high standard. We have great times ahead and it’s going to be a lot of funNew MD, Alun Grace
