North of England announces entries

There will be 40 entrants this year for the North of England Championships in Darlington.

Darlington

The North of England Regional Committee has announced an entry of 40 bands for the Regional Championship event which takes place at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on the weekend of the 16th/17th March.

Down by one

Regional Secretary Alan Hope told 4BR that he was pleased that overall numbers were down by just the one band this year, despite problems encountered through internal arguments and disputes over registration.

"This is particularly pleasing as, after a turbulent and often hostile run up to the closing date for entries, the bands have chosen to vote to enter the contest under the current National Rules."

Pleased

He added: "This Region can confirm that it will run its event under National Rules as it always has done."

Alan was also pleased to welcome two particular bands to the contest: "We look forward to a good weekend of banding and I’m delighted to welcome Penrith Town and Skipton Brass — as one new band to the contest and one old one with a lot of history behind it."
