Marathon success for Smithills

The young stars of Smithills School Senior Band have been pounding out the big hits on their latest 10 hour marathon.

Smithills in action

Last weekend, the 44 strong Smithills School Senior Brass Band under MD Chris Wormald completed their latest 10 hour non-stop rehearsal — their first since moving to their new bandroom facilities.

Repertoire

With 100% attendance and a fantastic atmosphere from 9.00am through to 7.00pm, the players rehearsed a range of repertoire including exclusive arrangements of ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Sinatra’ for a forthcoming Victoria Hall charity concert in aid of Bolton Hospice and a European tour this July.

The hours genuinely fly by and are hugely rewarding for everyone involvedMD, Chris Wormald

Stamina

Chris Wormald commented to 4BR: "The marathon Sundays have become an annual feature over the past two decades and raise over £3,000 for band funds. In addition there are huge musical and stamina improvements, fantastic bonding and plenty of fun.

The hours genuinely fly by and are hugely rewarding for everyone involved."
