Corry leads Swiss band camp

Enfield Bandmaster Jonathan Corry has enjoyed his recent trip to Switzerland.

For the second year running conductor Jonathan Corry, Bandmaster of the Enfield Citadel Band was the guest at the CMVS (Christian Music Association of Switzerland) New Year brass band camp in Switzerland.

Annual camp

The Christian Music Association of Switzerland was founded in 1907 and its members are made up from brass ensembles and brass bands that run an annual Brass Band Camp over the New Year period.

70 young delegates from 16 years of age upwards gather to rehearse for one week in Rickenbach, near Basel, and play two concerts in different parts of Switzerland.

Opportunity

The A band get the opportunity to play music which local bands cannot usually perform and in the past have performed works such as ‘Corpus Christi’ , ‘Ad Optimum’ and ‘Glorifico Aeternum’.

The A Band has had the opportunity to work with Jonathan, whilst the B Band this year was led by Michel Ster, Bandmaster of the Berne Salvation Army Band.

It was great to work and share with these keen musicians their passion and enthusiasm for bandingJonathan Corry

Return

Jonathan will return to Switzerland in December this year to lead the A Band once again, and is also involved in various projects in Switzerland over the course of the coming year.

He told 4BR: "It was great to work and share with these keen musicians their passion and enthusiasm for banding."
