The Aveley & Newham Band has announced a quintet of new players who have joined the band for the new contesting season.

Cornets

Stephanie Redgate come in on solo cornet, having previously spent ten years at Ipswich & Norwich Co-op and as assistant principal cornet at Tilbury Band.

Meanwhile, Peter Bearman also joins from Tilbury on back row cornet, whilst Tracey Nunnery makes a welcome return on solo cornet, having been a former loyal member of the band for many years.

Horn

Joanna Cambray-Young fills the first horn vacancy, bringing along great top section experience gained as solo horn at City of Cambridge Band, as well as enjoying successful spells at Hanwell and Welwyn Garden City.

Bass trombone

Finally, Bob Craddock comes in on bass trombone having spent the last 13 years or more playing for Thoresby Colliery and Carlton Frickley Main Colliery.

He comes to the area due to relocation with work and will join after making his final appearance with Thoresby at this weekend’s Butlins Mineworkers Championship.
