Pendeen Silver Band is preparing for their appearance at the West of England Regional Championships in March by engaging the inspirational talents of Albourne MD, David Johnson.
Workshops
The former 4BR nominated Conductor of the Year will be travelling to Cornwall to undertake workshops with the band later this month.
The weekend will focus on the techniques the band hopes will be mastered if they are to meet their ambition of becoming a Second Section challenger at Torquay within ten years.
First time
2013 is the first time the band has entered the Area contest, although they have enjoyed recent success in the ungraded section of the SWBBA Championships last November.
Proud
Pendeen’s MD, Darren Jenkin, told 4BR: "I've been incredibly proud of the progress the band has made in the past year. We have managed to fill most of the player positions and we believe we have a good chance of a top placing at Torquay in March.
We are determined to continue to build on the momentum of last year that included not only our contest success but also our trip to the Whit Friday contests."

Excited
Speaking about the weekend David added: "I'm always excited to return to Cornwall and work with Cornish bands. Living near Pendeen when I was at school means I know the band and some of the players too.
I'm sure they will be able to succeed and I'm looking forward to working with them."
