Christmas cheer for BTM

BTM gear up for new season with festive fun in South Wales.

nEX t GENERATION IN

The BTM Band recently warmed up for the forthcoming 2013 season by showcasing their playing talents at their annual concert in Bedwas in South Wales.

Packed

Both the senior band and the growing BTM: Next Generation, were on fine form as a packed audience enjoyed plenty of festive fun and games – whilst the fledgling Junior Band also showed that the organisation’s conveyor belt is continuing to unearth new and exciting talent.

Young players such as Sam Hughes (flugel) were featured as the Juniors showed off with items from their prize winning programme at the SEWBBA Contest in Blaenavon at the end of last year, whilst the Next Generation and Senior bands under Mark Hutcherson and David Maplestone respectively provided repertoire as diverse as the obligatory Christmas carols to Wilfred Heaton and Queen.

This is what BTM is all about — making good music and enjoying playing to our supporters at home as well as elsewhereJeff Hutcherson

The bells

Conductor David Maplestone paid tribute to all the players that took part on what proved to be a highly enjoyable evening and at one point even helped out the percussion section by shaking his ‘Jingle Bells!’

Band Manager, Jeff Hutcherson told 4BR: "This is what BTM is all about — making good music and enjoying playing to our supporters at home as well as elsewhere."
