The Lofthouse 2000 Band gained an additional Christmas present this year after being given a financial helping hand by First Transport.
Grant
The band was awarded a grant of £1000 from the company’s charity to help purchase a new set of concert music stands. This will allow the existing stock to be used by the other bands in the Lofthouse organisation – especially the growing ‘B’ & ‘C’ Bands.
Opportunity
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Our philosophy is to give our players the best opportunities by working hard to ensure that it has a full complement of instruments and equipment. This donation will help in fulfilling that commitment."
Band Vice-Chairman Derek Walker added: "We really thank First Group for their generosity. As with other self funding organisations we work hard and this involves a wide variety of fund raising activities to improve the quality at all our musical levels. We are truly grateful for this excellent start to 2013!"

Glad to help
First Transport’s Dave Wells said: "I’m very pleased that the band’s application was successful as they work very hard to teach people of all ages the art of brass band music making. I'm glad we were able to add that little extra to the bands Christmas stocking."
