Following the Open Forum meeting in Barnsley on the weekend, Brass Bands England has reiterated its belief that remains the only body that can ensure the democratic ownership and running of an English registry system and English Regional Championships.

Views

In addition to asking people to add their views to a Facebook discussion entitled, ‘BBBR or Kapitol?’ they are also encouraging people to contact their Regional Committees to air any concerns they may have about the running of the events.

This follows Chairman Robert Morgan MBE telling the Open Forum meeting that he believed that the Regional Committees had ‘rolled over to Kapitol’s dictatorship’.

Not served

The BBE statement reads: "If you feel that you have not been served well by your regional committees and regional representatives then we encourage you to let them know."

No official proposals

However, Robert Morgan did confirm to 4BR this morning that no official proposals were taken from the forum for the BBE Board of Trustees to consider, despite the statement from BBE initially implying that there were.

Published on the BBE website, it stated: 'To conclude there were many proposals from the Forum meeting yesterday for our board of trustees to consider: from a full scale boycott of the Regional Championships to a compromise solution of both BBBR and BBPL cards by the Regional Committees, and more in between.'

There were no official proposals to BBE from the forum, but considerations that arose from the meetingRobert Morgan MBE

No official proposals

When asked to confirm if such formal requests had been made at the event Robert told 4BR: "There were no official proposals to BBE from the forum, but considerations that arose from the meeting. The BBE statement will be amended to reflect this."

However, Robert did state that Brass Bands England will confirm their recommended approach for what they believe is for the good of English brass banding within the next seven days.
