Composer Huw Cole is looking forward to hearing the US première of his National Finals test piece, ‘Three Ancient Customs’ in Milwaukee later this month.

Celebration

The work, which celebrates the ancient customs and traditions of the hinterland of the Welsh borders is in three movements, entitled ‘Cwrw Bach’ (‘Small Beer’) ‘Mari Lwyd’ and ‘Wassail’ and proved to be a major success in testing the best Third Section bands in the UK at Cheltenham.

Mark A. Taylor will direct the band through the colourful score which I hope a new American audience will enjoyHuw Cole

Delighted

He told 4BR: "I'm delighted that the work will be performed in the US in Milwaukee on the 16th December by the Milwaukee Festival Brass."

He added: 2The band will be playing the work as part of their Holiday for Brass concert, which will feature a number of festive works. Mark A. Taylor will direct the band through the colourful score which I hope a new American audience will enjoy."
