Lions get ready for youthful roar

The annual Lions Youth Brass Slow Melody Contest takes place this weekend.

The annual Lions Youth Brass Slow Melody Competition is taking place this Sunday 2nd December at Sandbach High School in Sandbach.

70 players in 11 sections are taking part with the first section starting at 10.00am.

Full schedule

The competition will be followed by a concert commencing at 5.00pm, featuring the Lions Beginner, Lions Junior and Lions Youth Bands.

The full schedule for the day is as follows;

1. 7 years and under: 10:00am
2. 8 years Beginners: 10:15am
3. 9 & 10 years Beginners: 10:50am
4. 10 & 11 Juniors: 10:00am
5. 12 years and over Juniors: 10:50am
6. 13 years and under Youth: 1:00pm
7. 14 & 15 years Youth: 11:30am
8. 16 years and over Youth: 12:30am
9. Groups Beginner: 11:20am
10. Groups Junior: 11:15am
11. Groups Youth: 1.30pm

Concert: 5.00pm

Entrance to the competition for spectators is free, and £3 for the concert in the evening with children free.

January 21 • MERESIDE BRASS are excited to be starting the New Year with a new MD! To complete our happiness, we would love to welcome a FLUGEL player and a PERCUSSIONIST to join our team. We are a friendly 4th Section band with a sensible calendar of jobs and socials


West Yorkshire Brass

January 20 • We are a friendly and welcoming non-competing band based in the Bradford area of West Yorkshire. We play at various events in Yorkshire throughout the year. We have vacancies for Eb and BBb basses. Instruments provided if required


wantage silver band

January 20 • Wantage Band (championship section) has a vacant 2ND CORNET position. This would suit a player with experience in a championship or first section band. Rehearsals take place every Sun 7:30pm and Wed 8pm in Wantage with highly experienced MD Chris King.
