The Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association (scaba) is to hold an open forum for member bands to discuss the issues surrounding the creation of the new Brass Band Players Registry.
High volume
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Following the high volume of discussion and the uncertainty on the current prospective change to rules on the topic of British Brass Band Registry versus the Brass Band Players Limited, scaba will organise a forum meeting on Sunday 18th November at The Hawth in Crawley."
Free and open
The added: "The event will allow scaba band secretaries and representatives to freely and openly discuss their concerns regarding the imposition of a new registry on contesting bands.
These will then be passed to the London & Southern Counties Regional Committee, who it is hoped will take the outcome back to Kapitol Promotions, the organisers of the National Championships and owners of Brass Band Players Ltd."
Registry representation
scaba has confirmed that a representative from the British Brass Band Registry will be in attendance at the forum which will commence at 3.00pm in the Spotlight Room.
It is appreciated that Sunday the 18th is not the best of dates in the brass band calendar, but this needs to be addressed soonest as entry forms for the Areas have already been distributed by Kapitolscaba
Address
The spokesperson concluded: "It is appreciated that Sunday the 18th is not the best of dates in the brass band calendar, but this needs to be addressed soonest as entry forms for the Areas have already been distributed by Kapitol.
If a representative of your band is unable to attend please send any comments, thoughts or apologies to the scaba Secretary, Ian Carter at secretary@scaba.co.uk where they will form part of the discussion."
