Former British Brass Band Registry Manager Frank Hodges has offered his ongoing support to Colin Johnson following his resignation as the BBBR Registrar.
Magnificent servant
"Colin has been a magnificent servant to the banding movement through his work at the British Brass Band Registry over the last 15 years," he told 4BR.
"I would wholeheartedly agree with him that his managerial integrity at the BBBR in Barnsley became impossible to maintain. It's my belief that he has been treated disgracefully by the BFBB and that to safeguard his health he had no alternative other than to resign."
Gone wrong
Hodges, who also resigned from the BFBB earlier this year following an ongoing internal dispute, added: "I believe that something has gone catastrophically wrong with the way the BFBB/BBE and the BBBR is being run — and the results are plain to see.
I have worked closely with Colin for many years and in my opinion his professionalism is unquestioned, as was his ability to run the Registry in a manner that should never have brokered any interference, only support.
We both battled against this in the past year in a situation that I believe became increasingly antagonistic towards him."

Support
He concluded: "I now hope that there is an important role for him to play in the future of the brass band movement and I will seek to support him in any way I can in the future."
