The British Open has come out in full support of the new Brass Band Players Registry and its plans to introduce an advisory body to develop necessary changes to the current registration system.
Happy
In a press release issued from Martin & Karyn Mortimer as contest organisers and Frank Hodges as contest controller, they state that they are also happy to participate in the new advisory body, which will be set up to discuss and consult on the operation of the Brass Band Players Registry.
The statement reads:
'The British Open fully supports the National Brass Band Championships in relation to the proposals for the setting up of a new Brass Band Players registration system for English bands and its plans to introduce an advisory body to develop the necessary changes.
We will be happy to participate in this advisory body together with the promoters of the other major contests to ensure that the bands interests are addressed.
Obviously, the problems that the British Brass Band Registry has experienced have caused difficulties for both bands and contest promoters, which has been unfortunate. We hope these new proposals will now resolve the situation.
The British Open acknowledges the work undertaken by the British Federation of Brass Bands in relation to supporting and promoting the brass band movement.'
