Siddis entertainment set for streaming

The premier Norwegian entertainment contest will be streamed live from the brand new Stavanger Concert Hall this weekend.

Stavanger Concert Hall

One of European banding’s leading events takes place this weekend with the ever inventive Siddis Brass – Norway’s premier entertainment competition, which takes place in Stavanger on Saturday.

There should be plenty of great music making on show, as 49 bands battle it out in five sections to claim the various prizes on offer at the brand new 1900 seat Concert Hall.

Join the action

You can also enjoy the inventive entertainment action, as a partnership between students at Stavanger University and national broadcasters NRK will see performances streamed live on the internet.

The international field of adjudicators, Philip Sparke, Aline Nistad, Nils Christian Fossdal (Elite): Garry Cutt, Cathrine Winnes Trevino (First); Thomas Beiganz, Anne Crookston (Second); Elisabeth Fossan, Per Kristian Svensen (Third) and Jens T. Larsen and Linda Saglien Svensen (Fourth) are sure to be thoroughly entertained.

Champions return

Reigning Elite champion Eikanger Bjorsvik returns once more as favourite to claim a record 16th title success, although there is sure to be a touch of competitive spice this year as the current band are up against many former friends and colleagues in Bjorsvik Brass, who make their top section debuts after claiming the First Division title for the past two years.

With Manger Musikklag competing in Belgium the following weekend, the strongest challenge is perhaps set to come from home town favourites Stavanger who last claimed victory in 2004, although as usual there is sure to be plenty to enjoy from the likes of the eccentric Montebello Brass, Krohnengen, Oslofjord, Jaren, Sola and Kleppe.

Starts

The Elite action will start at 1.00pm (Norwegian time) preceded by the six bands that will compete in the First Division contest starting at 9.00am.

The Second Division contest takes place in the Zetilz auditorium starting at 9.00am, with the Third and Fourth Divisions taking place at the Lille Concert Hall also at 9.00am.
