Carlton Main Frickley Colliery has welcomed two young players to the Yorkshire band ahead of their appearance at the Brass in Concert Championships in Gateshead in November.
Young talent
Sam Lovatt, former principal cornet of the York Railway Institute Band and a member of the National Youth Band of Great Britain joins on the front row. Currently studying for his A levels, he hopes to eventually pursue his musical career at a leading conservatoire.
Meanwhile, Dean Jones, a former second trombone with the band has taken over the solo trombone role.
The Masters graduate from the University of Huddersfield has enjoyed top flight experience with the likes of Rothwell, Leyland and Grimethorpe.
