Wallace set for keynote in Stirling

The great trumpet player John Wallace is to give the keynote speech at this year's Scottish Brass Band Association Annual Conference.

The Scottish Brass Band Association is to welcome Professor John Wallace CBE, Principal the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, as their keynote speaker for their Annual Conference and AGM this Sunday, at The Management Centre in Stirling.

Food for thought

SBBA Development Manager Andrew Duncan told 4BR: "We are honored that Professor Wallace will be making the keynote speech this year. I have no doubt that his presentation will offer much food for thought for us all."

This year’s event will also offer a wide variety of further informative sessions to update delegates on SBBA’s current activities and future plans, including input from George Burt (President), Andrew Duncan (Development Manager), Lynsey Paterson (Child Protection Officer), John Hamilton (Sponsorship & Project Management) and Clair Tomalin (Marketing & Publicity).

Open forum

John Wallace will make his presentation just before the lunch break, and following the afternoon AGM there will the usual healthy debate on show with the now traditional open forum.

Euro update

There will also be an update on SBBA’s presentation of the European Festival of Brass 2014, which incorporates the 2014 European Championships, as well as the draws for the forthcoming Scottish Youth, Scottish Open, Scottish Challenge Shield and Cup competitions.

Those wishing to attend should register at 9.30am on 28th October and SBBA member bands are encouraged to ensure they have representatives present to participate in the official AGM element of the day's events.

Throughout the day there will be plenty of opportunities to talk with other member bands, SBBA committee members and the day's other speakers, together with information desks for Child Protection/registration and Marketing/Publicity.

April 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a Soprano and front row cornet players to help complete our team.. We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
