The West Midland Divisional Fellowship Band of the Salvation Army recently visited Droitwich Corps for an evening concert to raise funds for their ongoing activities.
Varied
The band presented a varied programme, including the march ‘Minneapolis IV’, the classic ‘Great and Glorious’, and the amusing ‘Instant Concert’, with the audience being invited by Bandmaster Charles King to guess the number of classical extracts included by the composer.
Soloists included Eb Bass John Davoll on, ‘Dear Lord and Father’, and the band’s talented young euphonium player Micah Parsons, who gave an inspired performance of ‘Song of The Brother’.
Speed
The band were joined by guest artists ‘Voices Together’ who offered a wide selection of musical contributions, whilst young xylophonist Sam Ellis from Coventry City Corps sparkled with ‘Czardas’, ‘Scherzo’ by James Curnow, and ‘The Flight Of The Bumble Bee’, which was played at breathtaking speed!
