Record entry for GBBA March & Hymn Tune event

Next month's contest in Ross on Wye is packed out.

GBBA Contest

The Gloucestershire Brass Band Association has announced that its annual Test Piece & March Contest has attracted the largest entry in recent history.

Maximum

The maximum number of 25 bands has been accommodated for contest on the 18th of November, which will take place at the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye.

Exceptionally pleased

A GBBA spokesman told 4BR: "We are exceptionally pleased with the venue hosting all GBBA contests for the foreseeable future. It provides everything we need under one roof and the staff and management have gone out of their way to support us when planning our contests."

They added: "It has also helped us ensure the future of both the GBBA Annual & Entertainment Contest without having to raise band or spectator entry fees."

This year’s contest will be judged by Steve Pritchard-Jones and the first band will take to the stage at 10.00am.
