Life of Brian reaches GCG

C Brian Buckley lends a helping hand to the Gwaun Cae Gurwen Band to enable them to perform in Fishguard.

Gwaun Cae Gurwen

The Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen Band has thanked C. Brian Buckley for his help in rehearsing and directing the band for their recent contest appearance at the West Wales Festival in Fishguard on the weekend.

Help

Spokesperson Dafydd Rhys Lewis told 4BR: "Having advertised for a conductor, it would have made it impossible for the band to prepare a test piece in the short amount of time available under a new MD. Mr Buckley readily agreed to help, so that the band would not risk being relegated to Section 3 in 2013.

We all enjoyed working with him and thank him for his time and patience with us."

Pleased

Brian was also pleased that he was able to help too: "I had a lovely time with the band especially as I have fond memories of them in its heyday.

I was intrigued to see an old championship banner and award from 1945 when the first prize was £60! Contesting times have changed but it was great to see the band is still going strong."
