New MD takes the dip at Poole

David Evans has become the new MD at Poole Borough Band.

Poole Borough Band has announced the appointment of David Evans ARCM as its new Musical Director.

Playing career

David studied at the Royal College of Music followed by a playing career with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and regular appearances with all the London orchestras before moving to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

His playing has taken him all round the musical world, whilst he has performed at the Last Night of the Proms and can be heard on the soundtracks of several notable films including ‘Death on the Nile’, ‘A Bridge Too Far’ and ‘Superman 2’.

David studied at the Royal College of Music followed by a playing career with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra4BR

Professor

David left the BSO to become Professor of Trombone with the Ministry of Defence, followed by 16 years as Head of Brass at Winchester College. He is a recognised brass band adjudicator and has conducted Sun Life, Woodfalls, Newham, Parc & Dare and many others throughout a varied career.

March 5 • We're looking for a repiano or front row cornet player to come and join us. There's lots to look forward to including the national finals at the Royal Albert Hall in October.
