Brass Bands International, the organisers of the US Open Brass Band Championships have announced details of the forthcoming contest, which will be held this year at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois on Saturday, November 3rd.
Strong field
The 10th Anniversary of the championship hosted by the Prairie Brass Band in partnership with Buffet Crampon has attracted eight top flight bands.
Defending champions Fountain City will be up against a very strong field of rivals, including previous winners and 2011 Brass in Concert runner-up, Brass Band of Central Florida, and last year’s second placed Dublin Silver.
The bands will be competing for the usual host of trophies, awards and cash prizes – from champion band and best soloist to the famous busker’s top hat full of dollar bills.
The best
Frank Renton is being flown over to host once again, whilst the organisers told 4BR: "This is going to be the best US Open ever – it is the show that has been ten years in the making!"
