The Lanner Brass Academy took part in the Cornwall BBA contest held in the Hall for Cornwall on the weekend, only the second contest they have competed at since being formed in 2010.
Delight
And there was delight for everyone associated with the bans they were announced as the winners of the Training Section thanks to their programme that included ‘London Prelude’, ‘A Whole New World’ featuring principal cornet, 9 year old Siana Rouse, and concluding with, ‘A Children’s March’.
Proud
MD Phil Matthews told 4BR: "I’m immensely proud of what the Academy has achieved in such a short time. I think all our players will take a tremendous amount from today’s event. I knew that simply giving them the experience of competing would encourage them to work hard and they rose to that challenge admirably."
He added: "I’m sure the performance we gave and being placed first will give us the ideal springboard to improve further and is the ideal progression from the second place we gained at our first contest in Bugle during the summer."
