Fishguard ready to welcome League contenders

The second leg of the 2012 Welsh League series will make it first visit to Fishguard in West Wales next weekend.

Welsh League

Despite a lower than expected turn out of bands, the second leg of the 2012 Welsh League series of contests will take place in Fishguard next weekend.

First time

The West Wales Brass Band Contest will be held at Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard on Saturday 6th October – the first time the Welsh League series has come to the town.

The event is being organised by the Goodwick Band, who recently represented Wales at the National Finals in Cheltenham, with the long term aim of establishing the contest as a regular feature on the Welsh banding calendar.

Time and effort

A spokesperson for the West Wales Band Association told 4BR: "We have spent a great deal of time and effort in organising this inaugural event, and although we are a little disappointed by the number of competing bands, we are planning for the long term.

We hope Welsh banding supporters will make the trip West to enjoy what promises to be a fine day of music making in a lovely venue and wonderful town."

The action starts at 10.30am.
