4BR has been informed of the death of Walter Ian Roberts, the former Concert Secretary of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band. He was 85.

Respected

Ian was also the highly respected Contest Secretary of the Yorkshire Area Championships in the 1980’s. Throughout his life Ian supported Brighouse & Rasrick Band, serving as their Concert Secretary in the late 60's & early 70's.

He later followed and supported his daughter Helen at the Queensbury Band where he was also Concert Secretary.

He passed away on the 27th September at Elmroyd Nursing Home Brighouse. He leaves a wife, Joyce and two children, David and Helen.

Funeral

The funeral will take place on Friday 12th October, 11.15am at the Elland Parkwood Crematorium and afterwards at the Crow Nest Golf Club, Hove Edge.
