Worldwide soloists head for East Anglia

The 23rd Haverhill Sinfonia Competition has attracted a worldwide list of entrants — with over £9,000 of prizes up for grabs.

The 23rd Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition takes place later this month when musicians from across Europe make their way to East Anglia for an event that now attracts over 160 entrants from 35 countries.

20 minute programme

25 musicians have been selected to compete in the final stages and will each perform a 20-minute programme of their own choice on baritone, cello, clarinet, flute, guitar, horn, mezzo soprano, piano, saxophone, trombone & violin.

There are 38 prizes worth over £9,000 plus 26 solo engagements throughout the UK on offer to the successful competitors.

Tomorrow's stars

The Competition is being held at Haverhill Arts Centre between 9.30am and 8.00pm and provides an opportunity for the audience to have some fun spotting the stars of tomorrow and comparing their choice with that of the panel.

Panel

The Adjudicating Panel will be Kevin Hill (Music Director, Haverhill Sinfonia), Caroline Palmer (Professor of Piano and Chamber Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and Gary Ryan (Assistant Head of Strings & Professor of Guitar, Royal College of Music).
