West Midlands contest cancelled

The West Midlands BBA Contest due to be held at Pershore later this month has been cancelled.

The West Midlands Brass Bands Association has announced the cancellation of its Annual Contest which was to be held on a new date of 14th October at Pershore High School, Worcestershire.

Not viable

Although the closing date for entries to the contest had been extended, this did not increase the number of entries received and therefore it was not viable to run the event this year.

Disappointed

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Although disappointed, the Committee of WMBBA would like to thank the bands who had entered for their support and interest and apologise for any inconvenience to bands this decision may have caused.

The Association also appreciates the fact that other bands made contact recording reasons why they were not entering this year – most stating they would be back next time."

2013

4BR understands that the WMBBA will look at options for next year and will make an announcement as soon as possible for 2013.
