Christmas has already come for City of Bristol

The first band to take up Christmas carolling has been identified — although it was for the benefit of television.

City of Bristol in action

Members of the City of Bristol Band may well have become the first in the world to start their Christmas carolling this year – on August 31st.

Trollied

However, the band can justifiably claim the record after being asked to be part of the Sky1 television comedy series, ‘Trollied’, which is based around the goings on at a fictitious supermarket.

Although not allowed to give too much away the band was filmed playing carols for the Christmas Special in what was described as 'supermarket heaven'.

Acting duties

With the sound recording in the can the band enjoyed miming a variety of scenes as the stars such as Mark Addy, Jason Watkins, Jane Horrocks and Warren Clarke went about their Shakespearian acting duties!

A spokesman for the band told 4BR: "We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were complemented on our professionalism as well as keeping up the spirits of the actors and crew."
