Yorkshire challengers Carlton Main Frickley has been hard at work strengthening their team with an injection of youth prior to their assault on the British Open in Birmingham in the next few weeks.
Improve
A spokesperson told 4BR: "An enormous amount of preparation has gone in over recent months to ensure the band is in even better shape than last year to hopefully improve upon our 3rd place.
The band has a great mix of youthful exuberance, ambition and a wealth of experience to draw upon. It’s an exciting time for us all and we’re all certainly spurred on by the spirit of Team GB… hence our new nickname, Team CMFCB!"
Influx
The new influx includes Hannah Robson on solo cornet from Leyland Band. The 20 year old is a 3rd year student at RNCM where she is studying for her BMus. Hons.
Joining her is 18 year old James Beecham who has just finished at Greenhead College, Huddersfield. James hails from a Salvation Army background and joins on 2nd cornet from Horbury Victoria.
