4BR has been informed that National Finalists Barton Town have amicably ended their association with resident conductor Garry Hallas.
Albert Hall
Garry joined the band in January last year and played a big part in preparing the band for their successful qualification for the National Finals – for the first time in 107 years.
They also worked together in the build up to the Spring Festival Contest at Blackpool and for several high profile concerts, including recently opening for international string quartet superstars Bond.
Good terms
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Garry and the band have parted company on good terms leaving the way clear to begin preparations for their Albert Hall challenge."
Meanwhile, Garry added: "I've had an enjoyable time with the Barton team. They are fantastic people and are an excellent band. I wish my friends there and conductor Nick Shepherd the very best in the future."

Proud
He continued: "Qualifying at the Areas was such a great high and the band deserves their day in the limelight at the Albert Hall, where they will do the region proud I am sure."
As for the future, Garry has already got his thoughts tuned into another National Final in Cheltenham.
Fine form
"I've already been asked to consider a couple of positions, both conducting and playing, although I may enjoy a bit of golf in the break before getting Emley ready for Cheltenham," he revealed.
"They are on fine form heading there and it's such a great feeling to know the entire team will be looking to make a real mark at the event."
