A little bit of multiple-choice work is needed to get your hands on a trio of fantastic ground breaking Wallace Brass cornet mutes from our friends at Bandmaster Limited.

Superb mutes

The Iain Muirhead designed mutes have made a huge impression on brass players all over the world thanks to their innovative construction, superb tonal qualities and high quality craftsmanship.

Not only do they look brilliant – but they perform even better too.

One lucky quiz winner will get their hands on an Aluminium Cornet/Trumpet Straight Copper Bottom Mute, an Aluminium Cornet/Trumpet Studio Practice Mute and an Adjustable Cup Trumpet/Cornet Set — a package worth over £150.00!!!

Policeman winner

We had a great response to our recent weekend quiz to reveal the secret policeman in our picture — with literally hundreds picking out the copper as conductor, adjudicator and player David Hirst.

He admitted under caution to 4BR that he was only was ‘borrowing’ the hat and uniform from a real officer of the law when helping out South Yorkshire Police Band on a recent job!

Our thanks to David – and well done to Jo Green of the Egham Band who was picked out of the hat and will be receiving a fantastic tenor trombone mute and a trio of CDs courtesy of our friends at Dawsons Music.

Jo told 4BR: "The 4BR quizzes are great fun and offer brilliant prizes too. The mute will go to good use in the band, even though I’m a cornet player, and I know my husband and I will enjoy the CDs."
