Students of the Showband from the Abraham Darby Academy in Madeley are busy preparing to perform on the 2nd July at Westminster Hall, London at the forthcoming Commonwealth Carnival of Music.
Celebration
The event is a celebration of music and dance with a Commonwealth theme as part of the Diamond celebrations for HM The Queen, the Commonwealth Year of Culture and the Cultural Olympiad.
It is being staged in association with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod to mark the influence of the ‘Mother of Parliaments’ throughout the Commonwealth.

The event is being staged with the permission of the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament together with the permission of the Lord Chamberlain.

Rachel Morton, the Academy’s Head of Music told 4BR: "Band Members were delighted that the Academy had received the invitation to perform at this special event, which was testament to the many hours of hard work and dedication put in by everyone."
