The Rainford Band has announced the signing of Kate Turner on solo horn. Kate previously played for Tyldesley and Longridge Bands amongst others.

Kate has recently finished at the RNCM and will continue her studies at Salford University from September.

Rainford MD Neil Samuel told 4BR: "Kate is a great addition to the band. She's young, talented and has a strong desire to do well, and I'm extremely pleased that she's chosen to make Rainford her new home."

Good time

Kate's arrival comes at a convenient time as band stalwart Phil Upton retires from playing. Phil will now help with the day to day running of the band and will also continue to oversee the smooth running and organisation of the 'R Banks and Son (Funerals) Ltd, Northern Open Contest'.

Chairman Paul Rigby added: "Phil has been such a pleasure to have in the bandroom. He has been fully committed to each and every performance. I'm pleased that he has chosen to stay on and assist with the running of the band."
