World Rankings: June Update

Black Dyke take over the number 1 spot following their emphatic win at the recent English National Championship.

The latest World of Brass – 4barsrest.com rankings show some significant changes near the top following the recent spate of contests. After its recent wins at Bradford, Rotterdam and Preston, Black Dyke returns to the number one spot for the first time in five years and will enter the autumn ‘majors’ as the band to beat.

Moving up to number three following its win at the All-England Masters International is Tredegar, while runner-up, Brass Band Buizingen, moves up nine places.

French Open — won by Paris Brass Band;
Ripon festival of Brass — won by Ripon City;
West Lothian Festival of Brass — won by Co-operative
Funeralcare; Euro Brass — won by Brass Band Schoonhoven;
Bugle Contest — won by St. Dennis;
Battle of the Bands — won by Dronfield.

The next update will appear after the British Open Championship, held on 1 September, when 14 bands in the 20 will be making their assault on the coveted end-of-year top spot.

Boarshurst Silver Band

February 17 • Boarshurst Silver Band, NW Championship Section, requires a BBb player, flugel, and front row cornet player. Under MD Jamie Prophet, the band have an ambitious and varied calendar for 2025, including NW Area, Spring Festival and Whit Friday.


Mid Rhondda Band

February 14 • Mid Rhondda Band are looking for the following players : Front Row Cornet, Solo Trombone, Eb Bass, Kit and Tuned Percussionists. The band will be competing in the 3rd Section at the Welsh Area. Contest & concert engagements in the diary for 2025
