John Packer competition winners Dobcross Silver Band will be teaming up with euphonium virtuoso David Thornton in a special concert on Sunday July 8th.

Brilliant prize

Dobcross player Paul Clough entered the John Packer Ltd & Sterling Musical Instruments Competition at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in Skegness and was delighted to find out that he had won the brilliant prize that sees David being featured as guest soloist with his band.

Paul had the choice of either having a private lesson with David, a band masterclass, or David featuring in a special concert – and knowing just how brilliant a performer he is, made sure he picked David for the July event.

The competition has been a great way to ensure lots of people can enjoy a single prize. David’s a fantastic performer, so it should be a night to rememberPaul Riggett

Great response

Both John Packer’s and Sterling have been delighted at the response to the competition — and the outcome, which will see both sponsors on show on the night, with John Packer Director Rob Hanson dusting off his cornet to join a band he once played for 18 years ago!

Paul Riggett of Sterling told 4BR: "The competition has been a great way to ensure lots of people can enjoy a single prize. David’s a fantastic performer, so it should be a night to remember."
