A dozen lucky Scottish conductors got to see the great Gustavo Dudamel in workshop action recently.

In partnership with Sistema Scotland, the Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) recently sent 12 conductors from its member bands to see the great Venezuelan orchestral conductor Gustavo Dudamel at a special event in Stirling.

Workshop

The inspirational maestro led a workshop rehearsal of the Pop-Up Orchestra, a group specially formulated for the event, consisting of 40 musicians from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, together with 40 young musicians from all over Scotland.

The lucky conductors were able to watch and learn from the man who has made the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra into one of the musical world’s ‘must see’ attractions.

I have no doubt that his energy, vibrancy, enthusiasm and charisma will provide our conductors with a memorable experience that will stay with them for a long time to comeAndrew Duncan

Fantastic

Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA commented to 4BR: "It has been fantastic to be able to bring this exciting opportunity to our conductors, offering them the chance to see such an inspirational musician first hand.

I have no doubt that his energy, vibrancy, enthusiasm and charisma will provide our conductors with a memorable experience that will stay with them for a long time to come."
