New secretary for NABBC

Catherine Anderton takes on new role for National Association of Brass Band Conductors.

Catherine Anderton

The National Association of Brass Band Conductors has announced the appointment of its new National Secretary, Catherine Anderton.

Outstanding

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Catherine is the Music Co-ordinator for the successful Blackpool Music Service and an Advanced Skills Teacher. She is also an outstanding accompanist, conductor and brass band enthusiast and we are sure she will fit in comfortably with the existing executive membership."

Catherine will also take on the role of Public Relations Officer in order to improve existing communications as well as promoting the new changes and initiatives of the NABBC.

Exciting future

NABBC Chairman Andrew White told 4BR that the appointment kick-starts what he believes is an exciting future for the organisation following a highly successful convention in Woking earlier this year:

"This is the first of several new appointments during a period where we will be undergoing numerous changes," he said.

"If the NABBC is to have a positive impact upon our membership and those we conduct we need to ensure that we provide inspirational events and resources. Catherine’s interactive skills are excellent and her creative mind will provide new challenge for all executive members."

Change

He added: "This is an exciting time for the NABBC who have agreed to embrace change. Using the skills of specialists beyond that of brass band conductors to bring about necessary changes is just one of many options."

Thanks

The NABBC has also taken the opportunity to thank David Ruel for his work and support as National Secretary for the past 2 years.

Andrew concluded: "In particular, we all appreciated his programming and managing of our recent successful National Conference."
