Own choice selections for Preston revealed

The blockbuster selections from the eight contenders for the English crown have been announced — so get to Preston early!

The organisers of next weekend’s English National Championship have revealed the list of own choice selections that will be performed by the eight competing bands at Preston’s Guild Hall.

List

The list includes two performances of Oliver Waespi’s 2011 European Championship set work, ‘Audivi Media Nocte’, as well as a brace of Edward Gregson’s 2008 British Open set work, ‘Rococo Variations’.

Another European test piece, ‘Extreme Makeover’ will also be heard, as will the 1987 National Finals work, ‘Harmony Music’ and two former British Open works, ‘Revelations’ by Philip Wilby, and Peter Graham’s ‘On the Shoulders of Giants’.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It’s going to be wonderful contest – as can be seen by the own choice selections from the competing bands."

The BFBB also reminded contest goers that due to the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Preston early on Saturday morning they would advise people to make extra time to ensure they are able get to the contest venue in plenty of time before the 10.00am start.
